a place where community meets creativity.

A place to grow, to learn, to create…
A place to have fun or simply a safe place to be.
A place to belong.

What We Believe

Belonging,
Ownership,
Inspiration

Crawley Community Youth Service is a place where community meets creativity.

A place to grow, to learn, to create…
A place to have fun or simply a safe place to be.
A place to belong

Founded in 2011 to deliver universal youth services, CCYS is a community driven youth service, open to all. All young people are entitled to resources, opportunities and advice. We are more than just a youth club … here young people can learn practical and emotional life skills in a non-threatening, low risk environment.

What do we do

Our young people enjoy a range of activities.

From jamming to performing, writing music to recording, working the sound desks and DJ-ing, music has always been at the core of our work at Dormans Youth Arts Centre.

Supported by Youth Music, we provide professional musicians to nurture and encourage our young people’s talents and dreams.

Thanks to our accreditation as an Arts Award centre, young people can now receive qualifications for the music they create with us.

Arts Award Centre

Young people performing on our live stage.

When asked what was important in a youth club, our young people replied that they wanted a space where they could be positive, be creative and be equal.

CCYS is committed to providing opportunities for young people to flourish creatively, nurturing their arty impulses and encouraging them to express their struggles and joys through art work.

Art materials are available for pressure-free creative exploration every week, giving young people the chance to try new techniques without competition or fear of failing.

Graffitti Wall

An art project in collaboration with Priority-154

In 2018, Crawley Borough Council allowed us to have two plots at the local Dormans Allotment.

Since then we have worked closely with members from Gossops Community Forum and members of Crawley Community Garden to have a functioning community allotment.

We have grown vegetables such as Tomatoes and Potatoes and some fruits too! The main aim of this is to teach young people how food grows, but also to use natural and healthy ingredients in our cooking sessions.

Cooking

We regularly cook with our young people.
